Physical Therapy

Nothing’s worse than having your training disrupted by pain or injury. Let me help get you back on track.

Every person has a unique story and situation. My aim in working with you is to help you capture your narrative while developing an understanding of your ecosystem, available resources, and motivation to train. Only then can I troubleshoot with you to figure out how to optimize your environment, habits, and systems to bring about meaningful change in an autonomous manner. My promise is to provide you with unparalleled care while positioning you for a safe, full, and timely return to sport at or above your prior status. Are you ready?

If you live in the greater Seattle area and are sidelined from training due to pain or injury, let’s connect in person. I’ll help you re-conceptualize your situation and develop a customized plan to get you back to consistent and healthy training in a timely and cost-effective manner that is free of pills injectables, and surgery.

Every sport has a unique set of performance demands and associated injury patterns. For runners, the vast majority of injuries and complaints tend to affect the lower half of the body, especially at the level of the knee and below. In terms of cycling, neck and low back complaints are commonplace as well as upper body issues stemming from potential trauma. In the case of swimming, the shoulder is the primary region afflicted by pain & pathology. As a physical therapist, I work tirelessly to help endurance athletes struggling with pain and dysfunction through a systems based approach while approaching every athlete from a head to toe perspective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring anything to my first appointment?

Thank you for trusting your care to us. Please take the time to fill out the patient forms provided prior to your first appointment. They can be downloaded here

Do you take my insurance?

My physical therapy business, Zeren PT, Zeren PT is an out of network provider, which means that we do not directly accept insurance. One can easily determine their out of network physical therapy benefits, by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. Oftentimes, your insurance company will reimburse you for some if not all of your PT services especially if you have a PPO plan or health savings account (HSA). Following each appointment, we will give you an itemized receipt with all of the information needed to get reimbursed. To help demystify this process we’ve attached a simple worksheet at the bottom of this page to ensure you obtain all of the necessary information. Please contact us if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Why out of network?

The traditional insurance model prevents us from treating you in the best possible manner. We feel that you deserve more than this and want to be in the best position to deliver unmatched care in a personalized manner. Ultimately, it will lead to less visits, better outcomes, and reduced spending on co-pays and unnecessary visits. Whereas most PT clinics see clients 2-3x/wk, we usually see you 1x/wk and make it a point to ensure that you are staying on track outside of PT through giving you the necessary resources to learn how to manage your situation with confidence and autonomy. Here is a worksheet to help guide you through the process.

What Previous Patients Say:

Turning an Injury into a Kona Slot

I came to Chris with bilateral knee pain that prevented training and racing for over a year. After working with Chris through his compassionate, organized and evidence-based approach I was able to return stronger and faster than ever before. My first race back was Ironman Texas this past Spring and included a 30 min PR and my first time qualifying for the Ironman World Championships in Kona. If you are an injured (endurance) athlete and are unwilling to settle for nothing but the best, Chris is the obvious choice to put you on the path to recovery while positioning to you to reach you personal best.

Nagging IT Band & Running Technique

Since my sessions with Chris, I’ve not only been running pain-free while ramping up my weekly mileage, I’ve seen improvements in my speed and endurance, and recently won the 2011 North Face Endurance Challenge 50km trail race. Now that my IT band is healed, I am looking forward to working with Chris on my running technique, and seeing how fast I can really be!!

From Bad to Badwater & Beyond

When I went to see Chris, it was simply different; we spent a lot of time discussing my history, pain triggers, an the goals that I had for my future athletic endeavors. Chris took the time to discuss my body, its inherent limits, and the things I would be asking of it in years to come. He then gauged and created a specific regimen to cater to that recovery will all factors feeding into the plan.

Kona Bound

While training in an effort to qualify for the 1992 in 1996 Olympic games in gymnastics (and coming up just short at the Olympic qualification meets), I spent thousands of hours at the University of Washington, as well as some time at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs surrounded by the best coaches, physical therapists, and sporting minds on the planet. Now having spent the past few years training with Chris as my Ironman Triathlon coach and physical therapist, I have yet to meet his equal!
